Introduction

Cadac network bridges enables simple, fuss free MegaCOMMS integration with other popular protocols, including MADI via the CM-MD64 Network Bridge and Dante via the CM-DT64 Network Bridge.

Both the CM-DT64 and the CM-MD64 support up to 64 bi-directional connections to map between MegaCOMMS ports and the relevant third party network.

Connection between the bridge and console is done via Cadac’s proprietary hi-speed data protocol - MegaCOMMS - which carries 128 channels of 24-bit, 96 kHz audio, plus control data and clock, bi-directionally, up to 150 metres via a pair of RG-6 coaxial cables.

Simple Integration

Cadac's network bridges allows simple, fuss free, integration into a range of industry standard protocols.

CM-Network Bridges: Features

MegaCOMMS PORTS

Cadac CM-MD64 and CM-DT64 MegaCOMMS audio connectors
  • There are two pairs of MegaCOMMS ports - on RG6 BNC connectors - carry all audio and control data between the control surface and other MegaCOMMS devices - stage racks or consoles.

  • Individual ports have a signal present LED.

  • The BNC ports glow red for receive (Rx) or blue for transmit (Tx), perfect for low light identification.

CM-DT64 DANTE PORTS

Cadac CM-DT64 Danti audio connectors
  • Two Ethernet Dante network ports, A and B, are available to provide the required 64 input / output channel count.

  • Each has a primary and secondary connection; the secondary connections are for redundant network connections only.

  • Each A and B port has a connection OK LED.

  • IO FS LED indicates the sample rate (FS) of the inputs and outputs - 48 kHz or 96 kHz.

CM-MD64 MADI PORTS

Cadac CM-MD64 MADI audio connectors
  • Two MADI network ports, 1 and 2, are available to provide the required 64 input / output channel count.

  • Ports are available with the option of BNC coax or optical connections.

  • The optical connection can carry the audio stream up to a distance of 2 km.

  • Each type of connector has a LED indicating successful receipt of data.

  • IO FS LED indicates the sample rate (FS) of the inputs and outputs - 48 kHz or 96 kHz.

WORD CLOCK

Cadac CM-MD CM-DT64 48k and 96k word clock
  • CM-MD64: Word Clock IN or OUT on BNC ensures the synchronisation of the digital signal with the network.

  • CM-DT64: Word Clock OUT only.

  • The Word Clock status LED indicates whether the unit is set to be Following an external clock, or whether the unit is set to be the Lead clock.

  • The Synchronisation LED indicates the unit is Following a Word Clock connected via the Word Clock IN BNC on the CM-MD64 , or is Following a Word Clock set by a third-party unit within the audio network, or the unit itself is the Lead Word Clock for both the CM-DT64 and CM-MD64.

PSU

Cadac CM-MD64 dual internal power supplies
  • Both units feature dual internal, auto switching, redundant PSUs.

  • Front panel LEDs indicate the ON status of each of the two power supplies.

  • There is a convenient front panel switch to turn the unit ON / OFF.

  • The PSU connectors accept both standard and locking IEC cables.
